MT5 is a forex and stock trading platform that enables traders to place automatic orders. With this platform, you can use either the built-in MT5 indicators or develop your own technical indicators as well. In our article, we look at the MT5 indicators that you can use:
What is MT5?
MetaTrader 5 or MT5 is a web-based multi-asset trading platform that allows you to trade currencies, stocks, futures, CFDs and more. The platform allows automated trading, technical analysis, and mobile trading from anywhere at any time.
Top 6 MT5 indicators
Commodity Channel Index (CCI) Arrows Indicator
The CCI arrows indicator is a tool that measures how much the trading asset’s prices have deviated from its average. When the indicator provides a high value, it indicates that the prices are much higher than the average price and highly deviated. When the values are extremely low, it indicates that the prices are too low compared to the average price. When the CCI indicator crosses the zero line, which indicates market volatility, it is known as the CCI cross. This helps traders go long or short with the help of CCI arrows. When the blue CCI arrow points up, it indicates a long signal. When the red CCI arrows point downwards, it indicates a short order.
Fractal Adaptive Moving Average (FRAMA)
The FRAMA indicator is a technical analysis tool that helps in identifying trending markets and identifying the strength of the existing trend. The indicator adjusts itself according to the market volatility and provides traders with ideal market reversal levels. The indicator averages out the difference between the highest high prices and the lowest low prices of the security of a specific time period. When the indicator gives values that are rising and showing higher highs, it indicates an uptrend and signals traders to place long orders near the ascending support levels. On the other hand, when the indicator gives values that are falling and showing lower lows, it indicates a downtrend and signals traders to place short orders near the descending resistance levels.
Market Facilitation Index (MFI)
The MFI indicator presents the price changes in the forex currency pair in absolute values. Whenever the MFI values increase and volume in the market does, too, it indicates that new positions are being opened in the existing direction of the market. This signals traders to place long orders during existing uptrends and short orders during existing downtrends. On the other hand, when the MFI values decrease, and so does the volume, it indicates that fewer positions are being opened in the existing market direction, and the market can potentially reverse. This signals traders to place long orders during existing downtrends and short orders during existing uptrends.
Half Trend Buy and Sell
Half Trend Buy and Sell indicator is a trend-following tool that provides traders with the exact trend direction in the market. It uses moving averages to calculate existing market signals. This is done by calculating the opening and closing price levels over a specific time period and finding an average line to represent the same. The average line acts as the moving average, and the currency pair prices fluctuating above and below provide traders with uptrend and downtrend signals. When the currency pair prices move above the average line, it indicates a continued uptrend with a half-blue price line, signalling traders to place buy orders. The stop loss can be set right below the value given by the indicator at this level. When the currency pair prices move below the average line, it indicates a continued downtrend with a half-red price line, signalling traders to place sell orders. The stop loss can be set right above the indicator at this level.
Bollinger Bands Moving Average Convergence Divergence (BB MACD)
BB MACD is a technical indicator that is made with the combination of Bollinger bands and moving average convergence divergence MT indicators. In this indicator, the MACD line represents the middle or central band of the Bollinger bands. This MACD line calculates the current price deviation from the average prices. When the current prices are above the middle band (MACD line) and approaching the upper band, it signals that the market is in an uptrend and that long orders should be placed. On the other hand, when the current prices are below the middle band (MACD line) and approaching the lower band, it signals that the market is in a downtrend and short orders should be placed.
Reversal Signal Indicator
The Reversal Signal Indicator provides traders with market reversal through arrows. The indicator scans the price chart for high and low price levels. Whenever there is a new high or low on the chart, a signal arrow is placed there that signals a trend reversal from bullish to bearish or bearish to bullish. Whenever the indicator indicates an up arrow, it signals traders to place buy orders during an uptrend. At this level, a stop loss order can be placed at the previous high, and a take profit order can be placed right after the arrow appears after the previous swing low. Whenever the indicator places a down arrow, it signals traders to place sell orders during a downtrend. With this indicator, you can place a stop loss order right at the level of the last swing low. The arrow that appears right after this level is best to identify an ideal take profit level.
